Halse Parish Council’s sole source of income is the parish precept which it sets each year (usually at the December meeting) and which is then collected as part of the overall council tax bill, although the full amount is remitted to the parish council each April. The precept for 2026/27 is £9,618.60.
As well as settling administrative costs and making payments towards particular projects, the Council is able, from available funds, to make grants to individuals/groups, approval being usually, though not exclusively, limited to those for the benefit of the village.(It is however the Council’s current policy that applications by external charities for donations will not be approved.)
The Council’s annual accounts are subject to an internal and external audit. The books and records are also available for inspection by residents during a specified period.
